Portis has a third degree groin separation, meaning the bone is actually hanging away from his body.

Some rumors are floating around that Portis’ season is done and that he will be placed on injured reserve.

Those same reports also are claiming that Portis has played his last NFL game in a Washington uniform.

Expect backup Ryan Torain, a long-time Mike Shanahan favorite, to get pretty much all of the work in his absence.

Thanks to the season-ending injury to defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, the New York Jets suddenly look like a possibility.

The Jets will need a big run-stuffer who can clog the middle to replace Jenkins, and Haynesworth fits the bill.

He would be playing for head coach Rex Ryan, who isn’t afraid to deal with disgruntled players and could probably motivate him.

It would also make sense from the standpoint that the Jets are all in this year on trying to win a Super Bowl.

McNabb injured his foot in the second preseason game and was unable to play in the third. He has already been ruled out for the final preseason contest.

If McNabb is unable to play, the Redskins would turn to former Chicago Bears starter Rex Grossman.

The season opener at home against the Dallas Cowboys is a big one, so McNabb’s loss would be disheartening for the team and its fanbase.

The team certainly doesn’t want to risk losing McNabb for a longer period of time which is why they are being so cautious with his ankle injury. 

Haynesworth shot his mouth off in the locker room, clearly unhappy with the way the team characterized his absence from practice during the week.

The defensive tackle said that he wasn’t just dealing with headaches and that the media should go ask the coaches what he was dealing with.

Head coach Mike Shanahan plans to address Haynesworth’s quotes at practice but said that he is going to have to practice just like everyone else if he wants to play in games.

It seemed like these two were getting along a few weeks ago, but the peace certainly didn’t last very long.

However, don’t mistake that for Haynesworth laying around all the time and sitting by the pool.

The defensive tackle has already lost 32 pounds following a training regimen and is going to open some eyes at training camp.

Haynesworth has lost enough weight to get back down to 330 pounds, which is his actual playing weight.

The Redskins need Haynesworth to be lighter and quicker to play the position they want him to in the new 3-4 scheme.

The Redskins have been looking to trade Haynesworth since fairly early in the offseason when he made it clear he wasn’t happy with the team’s new defensive scheme.

Haynesworth has been absent from all offseason practices and minicamps to the chagrin of the Redskins.

It remains to be seen what, if anything, the Redskins could even receive in return for Haynesworth.

He is another year older and still struggles to play a full season, and there is always the accusations that he takes off some plays. 

Moss, who was one of a handful of athletes who allegedly received HGH from Galea, has declined to comment on the story to the media, but told his teammates that he had no idea that the doctor was injecting him with HGH during the three times he was treated by him.

Still, the NFL could suspend Moss whether he knowingly took the HGH or not. Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear that he’s going to be proactive about disciplining players to maintain the integrity of his league. Multiple players, including star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, have been suspended without ever being found guilty of anything in the court of law.

In light of this story and the possibility that Moss, the team’s No. 1 receiver, could miss time this season, rumors have swirled about Terrell Owens joining the Redskins. The embattled Owens, who spent last season in Buffalo, has yet to find a home. It would be an interesting acquisition, reuniting him with quarterback Donovan McNabb, with whom Owens had a tenuous relationship during their season together in Philadelphia.

Galea is currently being investigated and charged with providing illegal drugs to professional athletes.

Moss is not in any trouble with the law, as investigators consider him a witness and are not looking to prosecute him.

So far the wide receiver has declined to talk about his relation to Galea, citing he will only speak about things related to football.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this and if any of his fellow teammates resent Moss for possibly taking HGH.

Some news was made when quarterback Donovan McNabb suggested he would welcome Owens with open arms.

It seems he made those comments without any conversation with his head coach or the backing of the front office.

Shanahan seems intent on building the team his way and would rather not risk Owens coming in and dividing the locker room.

Owens has divided virtually every locker room he has been in other than last year with the Buffalo Bills.

McNabb said he talked to Owens recently about the two possibly playing for the same team once again.

It’s pretty clear that McNabb wants to get back at his old team, the Philadelphia Eagles, at any cost.

He had a very tumultuous relationship with Owens a few years ago, but is hopeful that time heals all wounds.

It also helps that Owens is generating little interest on the open market, so he is more desperate to find an interested team.
